2011 MN POAC YEAR-END AWARDS CRITERIA
Exhibitors must participate in at least 50% of MN POAC sponsored & pointed shows to be eligible for all year-end awards.
Participation Award: Participation awards are given to each youth who participate in at least 50% of MN POAC sponsored and pointed shows.
Halter Award: High point and reserve high point halter awards are given in each division: Mare, Gelding, and Stallion, in both the Junior and Senior divisions, based on total points accumulated.
Lead-line High Point: Points are accumulated by youth 6 and under in the following Lead-line classes: Showmanship, Horsemanship Costume, and Trail regardless of which POA is shown.
The Showman Award: Points are accumulated by each youth in Showmanship, Bareback Horsemanship, Western Horsemanship, and Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat and Over Fences – regardless of which POA they exhibit. This award will be given in the 8 and under, 9-12, and 13-18 age categories.
Non-Timed Award: Non -Timed awards are calculated on pony points; therefore, points are listed for each pony/rider combination. Non-timed High Points include: Youth Pleasure Driving, Costume, Western Pleasure, Junior Western Pleasure, Senior Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, Junior Hunter Under Saddle, Senior Hunter Under Saddle, Reining, Trail, Western Riding and Hunter Hack. This award will be given in the 8 and under, 9-12 and 13-18 age categories. The Overall High Point in this division will receive the Leonard Lewis Memorial Traveling Trophy.
Timed Award: Timed awards are also calculated on pony points; therefore, points are listed for each pony/rider combination. Timed high points include: Pole Bending, Cloverleaf Barrels, Straight Barrels, Keyhole, Flags, Handy Horse, Go Go, Scurry, Figure 8 Barrels, Texas Rollback and Single Pole. This award will be given in the 8 and under, 9-12 and 13-18 age categories. The Overall High Point in this division will receive the Leonard Lewis Memorial Traveling Trophy.
One Pony / One Rider Award: One pony/one rider awards are calculated from all points accumulated by a one pony/one rider team. This award will be given in the 8 and under, 9-12, 13-18 and 19 and over age categories. The Overall High Point in this division will receive the Gordon Krueger Memorial Black Swan S Ultimate Pony Traveling Trophy.
BRAVO Award: This award represents youth recognizing other MN POAC youth for their achievements and/or contributions to MN POAC, sportsmanship, or other special efforts to enhance the breed or POA experience. An essay nomination should be submitted by a MN POAC youth member nominating another youth member for the award. Nominations will be reviewed and a winner selected by the Executive Committee and Board of Directors to be awarded at the Annual Banquet with year-end awards. The awardee will receive the Bravo Award Traveling Trophy sponsored by Hestedalen Farm.
JPFC Award: High point and reserve high point will be awarded for the JPFC nominated pony accumulating the most points in the following JPFC classes: Hunter Under Saddle, Western Pleasure,Trail, and Reining.
Yearling and 2 Year Old In-Hand Award: High point and reserve high point will be awarded for the pony accumulating the most points in the following classes: Yearling and 2 Year Old In-hand Trail and Yearling and 2 Year Old Longe Line.
Sportsmanship Award: Nominations for the Sportsmanship Awards for each age group are voted on by the show committee of each show. This award will be nominated by adult members of the club. Youth members may submit nominations, however it must be signed on by an adult. A Sportsmanship Award will be given for each age group, 8 and under, 9-12 and 13-18. Awards will be determined by the Awards Committee.
Member of the Year: Member of the Year award is designed to recognize the contributions of that member and/or his or her family in the support of the club and its shows as demonstrated through out the year. This award will be nominated by adult members of the club. Youth members may submit nominations, however it must be signed on by an adult. Awards will be determined by the Awards Committee.
NOTE: If more than one exhibitor receives the same number of total points, it will be listed as a tie in the placings for year–end points.
