2010 MN POAC Royalty Competition

The Royalty of the Minnesota Pony of the Americas Club will be as follows:
King (13-18 boy) Queen (13-18 girl) Prince (9-12 boy) Princess (9-12 girl) Tiny-Tot Prince (8 & under boy) Tiny-Tot Princess (8 & under girl)
The Royalty shall earn his or her position by completing the requirements/guidelines of the competition. Participants will be self-nominated for the Royalty positions. All members of royalty and other youth activities will be under the guidance and supervision of an adult advisor.
Royalty Rules:

Be an active member of the MN POAC attending at least 50% of the MN POAC shows in 2009.

Attend and manage youth meetings and report discussions to the general membership of the club. (This to include presenting youth ideas at the general membership meeting and sending information for publishing in the MN POAC newsletter).

Act in good sportsmanship at all times and represent the MN POAC in a positive manner.

Be a member of the MN POAC for one year before applying to the Royalty Court. NOTE: Exceptions may apply if there are no other qualified applicants running for Royalty.

Youth may not hold a Royalty position for two consecutive years.
If the Royalty winner belongs to more than one state club, and wins a position in more than one Royalty Court it is asked that he or she choose whom she would like to represent and allow the other Royalty title to go to the next qualified applicant.

If there are no other applicants, the state clubs may choose to agree to allow concurrent state Royalty titles to be held and duties between the two states may be shared if agreed upon by the cooperating state clubs.
- All Royalty will represent the MN POAC by participating at:

2010 Minnesota Horse Expo (with or without a pony).

2010 Royalty Presentation at POA functions.

Actively help at MN POAC events as needed.

Welcome new members at MN POAC functions.
- The MN POAC King and Queen will:

Organize and plan activities for the youth with assistance from the younger Royalty members and will assist the adult advisor as youth advisors for the royalty.

Represent the MN POAC youth by writing for the National POA magazine and a Youth News Column for the MN POAC Newsletter.
- Royalty unable to fulfill their Royalty requirements will be asked to step down and the next qualified candidate will be asked to fill the position.
- Royalty Contest (September 12-13, 2009, MN POAC Show, West Salem, WI)

Participants will be judged on his/her ability to ride and present their POA.

Participants will compete during the regular scheduled classes during the weekend of the designated show.

Prior to the start of the show, participants will select which three classes that they would like their points to apply for the Royalty competition on the “Intent to Participate” form. All classes held at the show are eligible.

The highpoint royalty participant in each category will be determined by calculating one’s total placing points in the three classes designated by the participant.

The point system used will be based on the type of show (i.e. B&P, Promo, etc.).

Participants will receive 5 additional points for completing the “Intent to Participate”.

In the case of a tie, one’s answers to the two short questions on the application form will be considered for 9-12 and 13-18 age groups.

Participants must complete the “Intent to Participate” form and return to the 2010 Adult Advisor (Angie Shuck) either prior to the show or by 8:00 A.M. of the first show day on September 12, 2009.

By signing the “Intent to Participate”, the participant understands and agrees to the rules as stated.
